A School & Dream Unrealized

In change, dreams on January 6, 2014 at 2:50 pm

There are moments of reflection in one’s life when the course of that life is called into question. It is always a troublesome time. No one likes to admit that the choices one has made are not working out. This is especially true when the path one has set down appears to be a good and righteous thing.

I have spent the last seven months trying to establish a school for moderately to high functioning students with autism and Asperger’s syndrome, as well as students with ADHD. I may be a fine teacher. I may have had a noble idea. The one thing I am not, however, is a marketer and therein lies the rub.

That alone might not have been insurmountable, but my business partner, a person of vision who also saw a way to help children with a need, was not able to properly capitalize the vision. So, like many under-capitalized businesses, the end was only a matter of time. I realized this approximately 2 months ago and worked harder to deliver more students, but, sadly, I was not able to overcome this little bump in the road.

And so, it is with an extremely heavy heart, that I need to abandon my dream for the moment. I will never completely abandon it. The question is merely when will I get to begin again.

I post this here, on my blog, because I am looking for any advice or, to be blunt, any help in aiding my dream and seeing it through to full fruition.

I encourage you to visit our school’s website, www.ErinGayleAcademy.com. I also encourage you to share this post on Facebook, Google +, and any other place you think might best serve the dream.

I thank you for your patience and indulgence in this.
